The 10 Of The Best Reasons To Have A Wedding At Canyonwood Ridge

To say Canyonwood Ridge is beautiful would be an understatement. While the Texas Hill Country is the home to many stunning wedding venues, not many are able to compare to this wedding venue, I promise.

After shooting weddings in Austin for well over a decade, I've seen hundreds of weddings and wedding venues. Of course, a lot of them have wonderful features, but the Canyonwood Ridge wedding venue has everything you could want for your upcoming event.

So let's grab a drink and talk about one of my favorite wedding venues, Canyonwood Ridge!

Highlights of This Hill Country Wedding Venue

  • 12,000 square feet

  • Indoor or outdoor ceremony site

  • Surrounded by oak trees

  • Indoor reception hall

  • Minutes from Downtown Austin

  • The only wedding venue in Dripping Springs that can handle all weather

  • Hill Country views on the ridge top

  • Wheelchair accessible

About Canyonwood Ridge

Located in the Hill Country, also known as the "Wedding Capitol of Texas," Canyonwood Ridge is a 12,000-square-foot venue that's nestled on, well, a ridge top. Surrounded by the beautiful Dripping Springs landscape, it offers unparalleled scenic Hill Country views that will take your breath away during sunset.

One of the best parts of this wedding venue is the ability to host an event in any weather. Rain or shine, the indoor ceremony space and the indoor reception hall can keep you and your guests covered.

This is exceptionally valuable during Texas summers and the general unpredictable weather of Texas!

But in case you're looking for an outdoor ceremony, there is an absolutely beautiful outdoor ceremony site that overlooks Hill Country's rolling hills and green landscape.

But this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Canyonwood Ridge. Let's go over some of the best features.

Venue Highlights

As I mentioned before, there are some spectacular features of Canyonwood Ridge. I've yet to attend a wedding here that wasn't timeline and gorgeous. It offers copious amounts of natural light, wooden beams, and rustic undertones that complement any wedding style.

And no perfect day is complete without dramatic views, the kind of views other venues just simply can't offer. The picturesque backdrops of Canyonwood Ridge have inspired many a wedding vision, and for good reason.

I've had plenty of clients tell me how, when they toured Canyonwood Ridge, they knew immediately that this incredible venue would be perfect for their special day when they saw the great lawn, large windows, and the chapel full of natural light.

Blank Slate for Your Personal Touch

Your perfect wedding most likely revolves around a specific vision. Maybe it's a vision you've had for years or maybe it's inspired by finding your dream venue that has the kind of natural beauty that makes your heart flutter.

Whatever makes your engaged heart sing, you don't want a wedding venue that brings too much to the table, so much that you have no choice but to pick colors and style that has to work well with the surroundings.

And that's what is so amazing about Canyonwood Ridge. Some might shy away from the concept of wooden beams with rustic undertones, but trust me, it isn't as overpowering as it might sound.

The wood is a soft brown, complemented with cream-colored stone walls and pale concrete flooring. When they say rustic undertones, they really mean 'undertones,' I promise.

A Fabulous Location

Even in the heart of Texas Hill Country, Canyonwood Ridge is only minutes from Downtown Austin, making it easy for guests to drive down on the wedding day. Trust me, your guests will appreciate this!

Of course, if you're concerned about them partying too hard, you can also invest in a party bus to help them get to and from Downtown Austin!

Absolutely Perfect Outdoor Space

Even though Texas Spring and Fall are brief, most engaged couples want to take advantage of the beautiful weather when possible. Luckily for you, Canyonwood Ridge has a stunning outside ceremony site, surrounded by oak trees.

The ridge top also offers a simple but beautiful pergola for outdoor ceremonies, with picturesque backdrops in every emotional photo. Not many other venues in the Austin area can boast that!

Even if you decide to use the indoor ceremony site, you can take photos with guests at the pergola—they're going to be obsessed with the Hill Country views, I promise. It's very "Instagrammable."

Climate-Controlled Indoor Ceremony Space

Sure, having oak trees in the background of your ceremony is dreamy, but it isn't always feasible in Texas weather. When the skies aren't being particularly helpful, Canyonwood Ridge is ready to offer its indoor chapel ceremony space!

One of the only indoor chapels in Dripping Springs, it's a wedding planner's dream to have a Plan A and Plan B all in the same spot.

It's what makes this a perfect wedding venue and helps with worry-free wedding planning—you don't have to obsess with whatever the weatherman is saying 1-2 weeks before the big day.

Trust me on this one; planning your wedding ceremony indoors will cut down some unnecessary stress!

It can also accommodate 299 guests (including the bridal party), which is fabulous for those that have oodles of loved ones.

Climate-Controlled Indoor Reception Hall

As someone who has photographed hundreds of weddings, trust me when I say an outdoor reception can be made or broken by the weather. No matter how much wedding guests adore a couple, freezing temps will thin the crowd faster than you can say, "Where's my jacket?"

That's what makes this a perfect wedding venue—the large reception hall is able to seat 299 guests, with large windows allowing natural light to illuminate the space.

But you don't have to compromise because these windows also allow you to continue viewing the dramatic views of the ridge top.

The large reception hall offers the ability to have a couple dozen tables but still leave room for your dance floor, cake table, and even photo booth!

Lots and Lots of Parking!

Canyonwood Ridge offers 80 parking spaces for your guests, plus overflow parking if you need even more. Albeit, since a lot of out-of-town guests will be coming from Downtown Austin, I recommend renting a party bus to help cut down vehicle traffic at the end of the night.

What's Included In The Venue Rental

Like any business, venues in Dripping Springs will offer different benefits to couples. Canyonwood Ridge is no exception when it comes to offering unique features and benefits. Some of them are:

  • 12,000 square feet event space

  • 15 hours of exclusive use (no other events on the same day as yours)

  • Two ceremony site options, each capable of hosting 299 guests

  • Beautifully landscaped outdoor space with oak trees and a great lawn for photos

  • Spacious bridal suite

  • Groom's room with a TV for relaxation

  • 300 white Chiavari chairs are provided for the ceremony

  • 300 white Chiavari chairs are provided for the reception

  • 40 60" Round Reception Tables (seats 8 to 10 guests, you provide linens)

  • 20 8' Rectangular Tables you provide linens)

  • 2 6’ Rectangular Tables (you provide linens)

  • 10 Cocktail Tables (adjustable to standing or seated height, client provides linens)

  • Break-down of chairs and tables after the event

  • Staff to clean-up after the event

The offer of tables and chairs in itself saves you thousands of dollars. While their prices range from rental rates range from $4,500 - $14,500, depending on the day of the week or year, you can't beat these kinds of savings.

Roomy Getting-Ready Spaces

Canyonwood Ridge offers two roomy getting-ready spaces, generally known as the groom and bridal suite. The bridal suite has lots of windows to let in natural light and faces the ridge top, so you can see the breathtaking views while you relax before the wedding ceremony.

And because it's right next to the indoor chapel, you don't have to worry about the weather ruining your hair or makeup. Trust me when I say not many wedding venues in Dripping Springs can say that!

Offers a Bar Package

While you'll need to discuss with the Canyonwood Ridge team directly to get the most up-to-date facts, the wedding venue does offer a bar package. According to their website, they offer beer, wine, and champagne as a part of the package.

Offers a Day-Of Coordinator Option

For an additional price, Canyonwood Ridge can provide a day-of coordinator that will begin working with you six weeks before your wedding day.

I'm always a strong supporter of hiring a wedding coordinator or wedding planner. They can help you with your wedding vision, assist with wedding planning, recommend preferred vendors, and help keep the process as worry-free as possible.

Planning a wedding can be really overwhelming for even the most Type-A person, so if you're hoping for your special day to be as smooth as possible, please consider investing with a wedding planner.

Final Thoughts

While I think Canyonwood Ridge is one of the most incredible venues in Central Texas, you need to plan a tour to make up your own mind. I know the Canyonwood Ridge team works their butts off to make every Hill Country wedding memorable.

And I know my clients have loved absolutely everything when they host their wedding here.

My personal favorite features are the Hill Country views, the collection of oak trees that cut down on the heat for portraits, and the indoor/outdoor ceremony site. So make sure to make a day of it when you head into Texas Hill Country—pack a picnic, a bottle of wine, and a sense of adventure.

After all, you're only engaged once. And even if Canyonwood Ridge ends up not being your perfect wedding venue, it's worth taking in the beautiful event space.

Dripping Springs Wedding

Allison and Francis chose the Dripping Springs wedding venue, Canyonwood Ridge for their Filipino and American wedding so their friends from all over the world could experience the Texas Hill Country, while also celebrating wedding traditions both American and Filipino. Coordinated by Kevin with Brass Tacks Events, some of the best wedding vendors in Austin were selected, from Greenbelt DJ to Catering with a Twist catering, Allison and Francis’ wedding was filled with great food, drink and dancing. With Allison being an animal lover, we also made sure Patch and Denver their two dogs attended the wedding and joined the bridal party for some great photo ops.
