New York Times - Kelly & Aaron Wedding

When I first met Kelly and Aaron at Lazarus Brewery, I knew we’d have a great time together.

Never did I imagine we’d have to almost move wedding venues due to a major winter storm that busted the venue’s pipes, the florist almost couldn’t get flowers and I almost didn’t have power to charge my camera gear or water to shower.

When their wedding day arrived and after multiple days of freezing temperatures, there was a glimmer of hope that their wedding day would happen with just a few modifications.

That morning, the Texas sun was shining, the snow was slowly melting away and we were ready to see Kelly and Aaron marry in front of their family and friends.

We stayed at the original venue Brazos Hall, the florist had to stay up all night designing the flowers and the wedding cake was prepared in a borrowed kitchen.

These are just some of the behind the scenes stories of weddings in Texas after the storm. To read the full article, please visit the New York Times feature written by Jenny Block.
