Brazos Hall is the Downtown Austin Event Venue You’ve Been Dreaming Of!

If you’ve spent any time around downtown Austin, you’ve undoubtedly seen Brazos Hall along E 4th St. and Brazos St. The beautiful industrial brick exterior has more than meets the eye—the event venue holds some of the best views of downtown. With a stunning rooftop bar and enough space to host over 500 guests—and that’s just in the main hall!—this space is perfect for so many shindigs!

Through all of the years I’ve spent photographing events in Austin, this venue is easily one of my top favorites. It’s a hub for Austin events like SXSW, corporate events, and other more intimate parties. And while rumors swirled for a long while about it closing, I’m happy to say that it’s not!

Did Brazos Hall in Austin Close?

In 2020, there was talk about a mixed-use building planned in place of this 1900s-converted warehouse. It was upsetting to the local event industry, as you might imagine. So many wonderful memories here!

Somehow, through the universe's magic, Brazos Hall is officially reopened! My heart pitter-pattered when I heard the great news, and I knew I had to tell the world!

So yes! Brazos Hall is officially reopened and ready to take on new clients for the upcoming event season!

What Kind of Events Can Brazos Hall Host?

You name it, Brazos Hall can host it! With a combined square footage of over 12,000, so many life moments, events, and parties can happen in this event space. Through the years, Brazos Hall has been the setting for SXSW for years. In 2023, the event hall was host to Dolby—yes, that Dolby. In 2022, Brazos Hall hosted Dell events for SXSW.

Other past events have been held by Gatorade, Bud Light, HBO, and LinkedIn. To say the least, this Austin event venue has been the hub for Austin culture for years.

But this space isn’t just for big corporate events. It’s perfect for award ceremonies, weddings, reunions, holiday parties, and community events.

Some of My Favorite Features of Brazos Hall

Even just driving by this downtown Austin event venue, you can see the charm that catches anyone’s eye. From the exterior, it has gorgeous industrial-chic brick walls with street parking right in the front.

Inside is a stunning blank slate, with pine floors and more beautiful brick lining the walls. I’ve seen all kinds of events with all kinds of styles and designs. Weddings can have dozens of tables or beautiful stages for award ceremonies.

Another great feature of Brazos Hall is the location! Positioned in the heart of downtown Austin, everything a host of an event could want is available. Hotels. Restaurants. Bars. Music. Comedy. It’s all there, ready and waiting for a celebration to host!

Things to Know About Brazos Hall

Parking

The one possible barrier to Brazos Hall is the parking. Like pretty much any other downtown of any city, parking can be an issue. However, there are also plenty of parking garages and parking lots. Guests of an event might have to walk a little, but if they’re staying in downtown Austin, an Uber or a Lyft will get them there in a jiffy.

Guest count

When using both upstairs and downstairs, your event can host over 700 guests! That’s why this event venue is so spectacular for all kinds of events—you can fit hundreds of guests comfortably while also impressing them with a stunning location and views.

The first floor is the main hall, which can accommodate:

The rooftop loft can accommodate:

500 standing guests

How Much Does It Cost to Rent Brazos Hall?

The rental fee for Brazos Hall, because of its dynamic space and ability to host various kinds of events, is quoted on a case-by-case basis. Rates may be affected by season, days of the week, guest count, hours required, and other factors. You can rent the main hall or roof deck separately if required.
